So why does an hours job almost always turn out to take al day? i was planning to go out today (saturday) but needed to change the rear tyre over as the bike still had the trials rear fitted to it. however, as i was working on the bike i noticed that the rear pin that retains the brake pads had sheared off! anyway i started out by fitting the rear pds swingarm bearing. no problems there so i went on to fit the cover, which looks cool. next up was the rear tyre change which went fine. so it was on to the chain lengthening job. and this is where things started to go wrong! i tried to knock out a pin without using the grinder but try as i might it refused to budge. in the end i relented and grinded it off. without going into too much detail what followed was a long drawn out slog but in the end i took it off and did the whole job again properly! just enought time to refit the rear wheel and brake pin before going inside to help out with dinner! oh yes i did also notice that the rear brake master cylinder was a little lose. tomorrow it's shed clearing time for me but i hope to fit the front neoprene covers, as well as servicing the front brake so that should be ready for next weekend. |
